We’re Jon and Kellie, the heart and soul behind Wild Parrot – your seasoned guides with over 30 years of navigating the tech jungle. Cut us both through the middle and you’d see the words “techy creative” running through, like the lettering in a stick of seaside rock.

Back in 2012 Kellie’s hobby business of selling sewing supplies expanded like mad and in the blink of an eye we found ourselves with a thriving eCommerce business turning over £1m in our first year’s trading. We believe this growth was due to our tech

Neither of us had ever run a business before and, despite praying for one, we couldn’t find a handbook telling us how to run an eCommerce business so we navigated the digital jungle as we went. 

We made a LOT of mistakes. We pulled it back from bankruptcy once in 2016 but we learned hard and fast as we went.

We figured out how to rank number 1 on Google.

We figured out how to sell on Amazon, eBay, Etsy and more. 

We figured out how to build a huge email list and how to get email open rates that consistently smashed 45%. 

We figured out how to build the tech and systems to run a 7 day a week operation.

We grew our bedroom business into a full-scale eCommerce operation with 20 staff We pivoted quickly from social selling on Facebook to building one of the best-known eCommerce brands in the craft sector.

So why did we decide to close?

One reason – Amazon

We hung up our hats after Amazon pulled a merchant payment terms stunt which made it impossible for us to continue. Literally a David and Goliath moment so we shut up shop.
